Associate Instructor/Party Lead

STEAMboat Studio is seeking knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and creative individuals to help
lead STEAM-focused programs at our Maple Valley studio and at area schools throughout the
year. We offer weekly classes, summer camps, and weekend parties and events for students
from preschool through middle school. We are seeking Associate Instructors to support all
programs and levels. We are especially interested in individuals with knowledge and interest in
one or more of the following key areas:
● Visual Arts
● Chemistry
● Physics
● Engineering
● Coding in Scratch
● Arduino/Raspberry Pi

Primary Responsibilities include:
● Providing enthusiastic and engaging delivery of pre-planned lessons to groups of 5-30
students with the support of a lead instructor
● Providing instruction and guidance to students to complete hands-on activities
● Preparation of supplies and setup/cleanup of classroom/party space
● Supervision of students for the duration of class/party

Additional responsibilities include:
● Checking supply inventory for upcoming classes, camps, or parties
● Greeting students and parents and taking attendance
● Assisting with parent communication via email and phone
● Providing direction to Program Assistants as needed
● Assisting with lesson planning and development of new lessons and activities

Preferred candidates will have:
● Excellent communication and presentation skills
● Experience working with school age children in an instructional setting
● Knowledge or experience in multiple STEAM subject areas, including art

All candidates must have:
● A passion for STEAM education and hands-on, project-based learning
● Interest or experience in one or more STEAM subject areas
● Confidence when speaking or presenting in front of a group
● Desire to learn and share knowledge with others
● Commitment to lead or assist with:
○ At least one class per week on an ongoing basis during the school year
○ Multi-day summer camps and weekly summer classes
○ Regular weekend parties throughout the year.

All candidates must be:
● 16+
● Responsible, dependable, punctual, and have reliable transportation
● Able to pass WSP background check and/or drug screening (18+)
● Vaccinated against COVID-19 and able to provide proof of vaccination as required by
our school partners

Hours: 4-12 hours per week depending on program schedule and party bookings. (Most
classes are held on weekday afternoons/evenings, with preschool programs on Friday
mornings. Birthday parties are held on Saturdays and Sundays.)

Salary: $16 per hour
