STEAMboat Studio Birthday Parties FAQ
Parties are booked for 2 hours and include 90 minutes of activities, plus use of the Studio for the remainder of the scheduled time for cake, gifts, etc. Aprons and/or smocks are provided for guest use during art parties.
Yes! Feel free to bring food, cake, snacks, ice cream, beverages, etc. We have a mini refrigerator/freezer available for your use.
There is a counter toward the back of the studio that you may use to set up food, cake, etc. We have some small carts available if you need additional space. When we have finished the activities, all the tables will be completely cleared and available for your use for the remainder of the party time.
You are welcome to arrive up to 30 minutes before your party to set up. If you only need to bring in cake and food, you will not need more than a few minutes. Please be sure to complete payment online before arriving at the studio and reach out if you have any questions about payment.
Please ask guests to arrive early for greetings, hanging up coats, signing waivers, and putting on aprons/lab coats. We will begin your party on time.
We require a signed Liability Release form from all guests before the party starts. Forms may be signed upon arrival, but we encourage parents to complete the form before arriving to save time. An electronic form is available via this direct link: Release of Liability. For those who prefer a paper form, we will also email a .pdf file that can be printed completed at home. Please share both with your guests.
Activities typically run about 1 hour and 30 minutes. This varies by 10 to 15 minutes for very large or very small groups. When we are finished, we will clear tables, and the remaining time is for your use for food, cake, opening gifts, etc. Most parties are somewhat flexible, so if you would like to eat lunch before we start, for example, or have a quick snack in the middle, we can usually accommodate those needs. If you do not plan to open gifts at the studio, we can sometimes extend the activities by a few minutes. Just let us know what you need and we will do our best to make it work!
We recommend guests wear washable clothing, and avoid special or favorite items just as a precaution. For our art parties, we use paints, liquid watercolors, and printing inks, and while these are generally washable, the colors can sometimes stain certain fabrics. Our science parties can get messy, but the materials generally will not stain clothing. Slime can be easily removed from clothing and fabrics with vinegar.
